Traditions

making smoothies

What is Mark holding on top of the blender? Well, that would be a lid to a pampered chef mixing bowl:) a few weeks ago I lost the lid to the blender and this was my solution this morning. We couldn’t go another week without our smoothies! It’s become a much cherished Sunday tradition the last month. Sunday morning means bagels and smoothies in our house. Sometimes muffins and smoothies, but usually bagels. I’m excited to say that Jonas had 1 and a half bagels for breakfast today! I was surprised he ate so much! For once he ate more than Brynnan:)

nibbling

Jonas nibbled on the sherbet while waiting for his smoothie to get done.

Cheese!

“Cheese!” Brynnan says while sipping his smoothie from his spoon. He had a bit of an accident with his smoothie, he was trying to drink it from the cup without the spoon or straw and it all fell on his face and shirt. He start freaking out and screaming! It was pretty traumatizing. That explains the no shirt and towel.

Jonas says “Cheese!” too. What a cutie!

So now that we have a blender that doesn’t have a lid we’re in the market for a new one. Does anyone have any suggestions to any brands that are really good and last a looonnngg time? We’ve gone through 3 in the 5 years we’ve been married. I’d like one to last longer than 2 years:)

Well, I hope you all had an enjoyable Sunday!

My Loving Husband

27 06 2008

Saturday I woke up with really bad allergies so I took 2 Benedryl ( I always take that many and the package said it was an okay dose. Mark thinks I overdosed.). Brynnan and I went out shopping and when we got back at 9:30 I felt really tired. I was helping Mark put away the groceries and cleaning up the kitchen a bit when I just couldn’t think straight anymore and Mark sent me off to bed!:) So I stayed in bed for the next 2 hours trying to get some sleep, but of course I was wide awake even though I was tired. I think I did finally get a little bit of sleep, but the best thing about it all was that Mark took care of everything. He played with the kids and got them lunch and did some laundry all without me having to come out of my room! It was so nice to get a break! He’s a great husband (and Father) and I love him dearly! Thanks, Sweetie! (Yes, I know I used exclamation marks a lot in this paragraph, but I really felt like I needed to to get my point acrossnj!:)LOL)

Anyway, I know Father’s Day was 2 weeks ago, but I wanted to post some pictures of my cute and silly hubby.

He got his big present about a month in advance (a hard drive), but I had to give him something on Father’s Day!

silly

He loves his Chocolate! He got me Dove caramels on Mother’s Day and we both loved them. I thought I’d get him raspberry chocolates for him to love:) And of course he did, even though this picture below is serous. That’s just my silly guy for ya!

Still Asleep!!

27 06 2008

I just wanted to let you all know that it is 6:50 am and both of my children are still asleep!! I’m not surprised about Jonas, but Brynnan never sleeps in past 6 am, randomly he will sleep till 6:30, but never 7!! This is amazing:) and nice, since both Mark and I have been awake since 6. We’ve been able to spend some time together.

Uh oh, speak of the sleepin child, here’s Brynnan now sitting on my lap. I guess I spoke too soon. :)

My Poor Couch

26 06 2008

further damgae to my poor couch

I left the kids alone for less than 5 minutes this afternoon after nap time and look at what happens!!! Brynnan found a pen and went crazy on my poor couch! The pen was black to begin with, but after mercilessly trying to clean the marks off the couch, they turned blue. I cannot believe him sometimes. He’s done it before, but not this bad. ARGH! Do I really have to get rid of all the pens in the house?!

poor couch

On a sweeter note…. Tuesday Brynnan didn’t take a nap so I cuddled with him on the couch watching a movie for a little bit and then I got hungry for a sweet snack. I decided to share some oreos with him. I even let him dunk his cookies in my milk:) Here’s my sweetie:

cookie face

Maybe I should spend more one on one time with my kids. They’re a lot sweeter that way!:)

Hilarious!

26 06 2008

I just got this as an email forward and figured I’d post it here instead. Hope you guys enjoy it. Have you heard of the “Hawaii Chair”? I guess it’s a chair you can use while you work and it gives you a workout. The clip is from Ellen’s TV show. It’s very funny:)

So Cute!

24 06 2008

This morning Mark got out of bed about 6:00. He opened our bedroom door and then turned back to me laughing; Jonas was laying on the floor by our door. I got up and brought him back in bed with me. a little bit later Jonas wanted to see Mark so we found him and Jonas cuddled with Daddy at the computer. It was very cute! We tried asking him how long he had been laying by our door and if it had been a long time. He said yes, but I don’t think it was that long, hopefully! We told him he can always come in and lay with us, which is what he usually does. Brynnan actually slept in today until 6:30! Amazing! He never sleeps later than 6! So that was nice.

While I’m talking about being cute…. I told Brynnan to pick out a movie to watch after he was done with lunch and then I went in to finish mine and wait for Jonas to get done. Jonas heard me tell him that and said, ” Yeah, pick out a movie before Mommy does!” I thought that was so hilarious! The things he says sometimes amazes me. A common phrase for him to say now is: “We watched that on Saturday!” He says that one all the time, even if we watched the movie the day before and it wasn’t a Saturday. These are the things I love being a mom for! They make all the bad moments worth it!

A spiritual note

23 06 2008

Yesterday we had a wonderful lesson in Relief Society. I didn’t get a chance to read the lesson until today. The lesson was from the May 2008 Ensign, the talk by Elder Russell M. Nelson “Salvation and Exaltation”. If you haven’t read it you should. It’s very enlightening and has helped me to understand the two a lot better.

He talked about individual and family responsibilities, as well as parental responsibilities. To sum it up, he said “In God’s eternal plan, salvation is an individual matter; exaltation is a family matter.” This reminds me of something Mark’s mom said once. Now I can understand what she was meaning. We are exalted as a family. “…we cannot become perfect without them…” Elder Nelson said.

He references D&C 121:43 “Reproving betimes with sharpness, when moved upon by the Holy Ghost; and then showing forth afterwards an increase of love toward him whom thou hast reproved, lest he esteem thee to be his enemy.” I need to work on this; it is great counsel. There is much more great counsel in the article. If you don’t get the Ensign you can view it right here.

Great new accomplishments

23 06 2008

This morning was a fun one. There is a little girl the same age as Brynnan, that lives a few buildings down from us, who invited us to go swimming in her little kiddie pool. The boys loved it, of course, and Amanda (the girls mom) had the great idea of using her neighbors little plastic slide and letting the kids slide into the pool. It was nice to get out of the house in the morning and let the kids run around. It was fun for me to have a mom to gab with:) I was going to bring the camera so I could post some pictures, but with 2 other bags and 2 kids to worry about, adding a big camera bag to the mix wasn’t in the question. I also forgot about it because of all that stuff. I’m sure we’ll do it again and hopefully I’ll remember the camera.

Anyway, I have some great news to share! As of last Thursday Brynnan doesn’t use a pacifier any more:) Yeah!! Finally! I gave it to him at nap time on Thursday and he spit it out so I took it away and then at bedtime Mark wanted to try without it again. Brynnan wasn’t happy about it at first, but then he cuddled with Daddy before laying in his bed and he went to sleep just fine! He wants Daddy all the time now. It’s so cute. He woke up crying about an hour after going to bed on Saturday and Daddy was the only one who could comfort him! He has become quite the Daddy’s boy in the past couple weeks.

Another new accomplishment is I’ve finally gotten over the “CNS” (Chicken Nugget Syndrome)! I’ve been trying for about the last 2 months to get the kids to eat more than chicken nuggets and I’ve finally succeeded. Now I eat whatever they’re eating because they’ll eat whatever I eat. Today we had taquitos and salsa.

yummy!

yummy!

Brynnan loves using his fork.

Sacrament meeting nightmare

22 06 2008

I was optimistic about going to church today. We have finally got both our kids going to their seperate classes without crying now (it only took 6 month into the year to do it!) and so life is a little bit easier. Even though Sacrament meeting is always a battle zone I thought maybe today would be different (like I do every Sunday). Mark couldn’t sleep last night for some reason so he said he was going to stay home. I still wanted to go so I went with both kids.

It was like any ordinary church experience until Sacrament meeting came. We recently took away the kids priviledge of having crackers before taking the Sacrament because they wouldn’t be reverent during it. They were both very upset when we got to our bench when they couldn’t find their “cakars” as Brynnan calls them. This lead to them both screaming for their “cakars!” I was able to somewhat calm Brynnan down with his Raspberry drink (Raspberry Crystal light), but Jonas didn’t want his drink and was still crying for his crackers.

This was all before the Invocation was given. I was tired already and it had only been 2 minutes. The lady in front of us turned to me after the prayer and asked if she could help. I thanked her and gave her Brynnan. He will always quiet down for strangers (that’s probably not a good thing anywhere else, but at church it’s a great thing!!) So he sat with that lady for a few minutes eating teddy grahams, much to my dismay. Of course Jonas saw Brynnan getting crackers so Jonas wanted his own crackers. I just gave him a few and he got mad about that. Brynnan then saw that Jonas got the coveted fish crackers so he wanted to come back to me. Jonas wanted to go to Sis. Peterson and so went life. There was some more screaming when they both wanted to be with me again to have crackers.

Finally, the sacrament came to us and both boys calmed down to take the bread. After it was gone they wanted more and so I took them out into the hall where they screamed. We had to walk around the building to get them to be quiet and then we missed the water, of course. I was done by that point and tried to go back in to get our things but the boys would start screaming whenever we got to the doors so I had to leave Jonas in the hall and drag Brynnan in with me (otherwise he would run away and go outside), pack up our things and leave the meeting. It was sooo embarassing! I really didn’t think they would be that bad for me. I’m really thankful for the ladies that helped me. As we were walking to the car another Sister came out and asked if she could help. She carried Jonas to the car, while I took care of Brynnan. It’s so nice to know that people understand what it’s like to be a mom and are willing to help! Thank you to them!

Hi everyone!

22 06 2008

Yea, I’m excited that I finally got a blog!:) I’ve been wanting one for a few months now, but I kept saying that I didn’t need one. Mark finally broke down and said he’d set one up for me. So here I am ready to become a blogger. You might be wondering why I chose the name “welchwolves”: our last name is Welch and it means “wolf cub” so Mark came up with “welchwolves”. I thought Lynn (Mark’s Mom) would like it too because she’s into geneology. So it’s fun for everyone:)
