Our Thanksgiving Feast

29 11 2008

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We certainly did:) Mark and I thought it would be fun to host Thanksgiving at our house this year, since we actually have a house now and it has enough space for a bunch of people:) Mark’s parents and brother, Ian, came over from Boise Thanksgiving morning. We all had fun enjoying each other’s company. We watched the parade, but soon got tired of it so we played video games. Jonas loved this! He thought it was so great to play with Uncle Ian, who is not used to having to help Jonas play and also be his own character at the same time! Here are some fun pictures:

Jonas helping Mark make sausage rolls for breakfast on Thanksgiving morning. In Mark’s family they have a tradition of making sausage rolls for breakfast on Thanksgiving and Christmas. We’ve continued that tradition on in our family, even though Mark complains that the kids and I don’t love them enough.

Here it is: I’ve finally made a video of our home, complete with wonderful, Megan-esque commentary.

edit: Yes, I realize I sound dumb in the video. Anyone that comments on that dies. lol

Apparently “Chomp” = “Draw Blood”

24 11 2008

Here’s the update, upon discovery of what actually sits in the imagination of these two children. The traumatic, WIC office experience of having blood taken to test for iron becomes hours of countless joy for these two oddballs.

I’m amazed at how quiet and still Brynnan can sit for all of this.

I’m going to chomp you.

23 11 2008

My kids are so funny! I know every mom says and thinks this about they’re kids so you’re probably thinking, “What’s new?!” well, tonight after dinner I pulled out a board game “Chutes and Ladders” and Jonas, Brynnan, and I sat down to play. Brynnan just played around on the board and didn’t care about taking turns, but Jonas and I had fun spinning and moving to the different spots. After a while of playing I wanted to get some pictures so I took a break to let the kids play and then they started playing with a couple of Mega Bloks that were in the room. What were they doing with them? Only they know, but Jonas kept saying “I’m going to chomp you.” and then Brynnan would “chomp” Jonas. What does that mean!! LOL

WEEEeee! Jonas loved sliding down the slides… I don’t think he understood it wasn’t supposed to be fun. LOL

Here he is “chomping”:)

And then Brynnan had to “chomp” Jonas. Such funny kids!

Healthiest Day Ever!

21 11 2008

Wednesday was a busy day! I felt like I was going 100 miles an hour all day. We got Jonas up and out the door by 7:30, then Mark went to work and Brynnan and I were left at home. I had wanted to get my room all cleaned up and put together, but for some reason I started rearranging the kitchen! LOL Brynnan didn’t want to eat breakfast until about 9:30 or so and guess what he wanted?!

healthiestdayever21

Yes, those are marshmallows!

healthiestdayever

I know what you’re thinking; how could I let Brynnan eat MARSHMALLOWS for breakfast! That’s the only thing he wanted to eat and I wasn’t in the mood to fight. He also had a cheese stick as well. Mmmm doesn’t that sound yummy?

Jonas got home from school and I got him ready to go to his Occupational Therapy appointment. We played outside (the kids were looking for Clank, a video game character, and I was raking leaves, STILL!) until his ride came at 11:20. I was also cooking au gratin potatoes for our playgroup potluck. After Jonas left I ran Brynnan over to Megann’s house, where playgroup was being held, and ran back to our house to get the food. We had a good time talking and eating and the kids played. Our lunch consisted of a noodle salad, potatoes, 2 different kinds of cookies, rice crispy treats and chocolate bread. Healthy right? I think most of the kids only ate the cookies! LOL

We went to go pick Jonas up at 12:45 and Brynnan fell asleep in the car. Jonas wanted to go over to Lainey’s house so I put Brynnan in his room, grabbed the baby moniter and went over to hang out at playgroup some more. I love living so close to friends! Now if Megann or I need to go out we can just “babysit the monitor” while the kids nap!”:) LOL

This is also another reason I love living by friends. Our kids love playing with each other. Having a yard that the kids can run around in helps too. Now I don’t have to worry about them running onto other peoples porches and stuff. It’s so wonderful having a house!:)

And onto our finale meal of the day . . . Mac & Cheese and corn bread! Wow! How does that sound for meals of the day?! Am I horrible for letting my kids eat like this? At least they’re happy and that’s what I care about! Please tell me if you have days like this too! :)

It’s Been a While!

18 11 2008

Hello there. The past 5 days have been busy…well, not really. I guess I should say lazy! LOL My mother-in-law called me about an hour ago and asked “Are you ok?”. I guess since I had been posting every day for a while she thought it was odd that I haven’t posted in so long:) So here is a post to please all you loyal readers.

Jonas QT

What a cutie, right? :) Last week the boys were playing in their room while I was cleaning the kitchen and Jonas came in to show me the cake he made with his mega bloks. Doesn’t he have a good imagination! We even had to sing “happy birthday” to each of us individually and take turns blowing out the candle! I love it when he’s like that! Just so playful and fun!

Last week the boys helped me rake up the leaves. They had fun jumping in them and throwing them at me and each other. :)

Jonas didn’t really like sitting in the leaves, but he was a good sport so Brynnan could cover him up:)

So much fun! Don’t you love his messy face. He ate an oreo and I didn’t clean him up, LOL!

Just Some Thoughts

18 11 2008

Ok, I won’t bore you for too long, but I thought I’d do a post of some thoughts I’ve been having recently. They’re mainly about being prepared with food storage and what not. I know that I’ve bugged many of you about this more than once, but sometimes we need to be reminded, right?:)

Well, I get on what I call “preparedness highs”. Some days I’ll wake up and that’s all I can think about. I love the websites and blogs that I’ve found to help me out with all this confusing stuff! Check them out if you haven’t already. They’re on my side bar.

Anyway, so my thoughts today are on items that we need that aren’t neccisarily food storage. Things like toilet paper, feminine items, medicine, paper towels, diapers, shampoo, soap, contact solution, trash bags, etc. these things are important too. There was a post today about this stuff on Safely Gathered In so that’s why I got to thinking about it today. I’ve kind of started saving these things when we buy them. Like when we buy toilet paper we get it at Sam’s Club in a big pack. Every time we buy a pack I put two of them aside. We don’t go through them that fast so we only have 3 saved right now (why the odd number? Well, since we just moved and we were in the middle of a package of course I lost the package that was already open so I had to raid our storage stash!) With diapers, which we also get at Sam’s, I put away 1 package every time we buy those.

You get the idea right? It’s easy to get started if you do a little at a time. Hope you guys don’t mind me sharing my thoughts on this stuff!

Finally, It’s Done!

13 11 2008

So we’ve been in our house for a week and 5 days now. The first week I spent here at the house unpacking so this week I spent a lot of time at the apartment cleaning it!:P Let me tell you, I don’t think I want to move ever again! LOL That was hard work! Mark was a great help, which I am thankful for and I’m also thankful for my friend Megann who watched my boys for me a couple of times!

Well, today I had the check out inspection and we passed:) YEAH! He said they’d only charge us to clean the carpets. I’m really excited that it went so well. So now that the stress of that is over and done with I can now enjoy my new house and hopefully finish getting it put together.

Anyway, on a different note . . . I’ve been meaning to post up this scrapbooking page Mark and I collaborated on. I did the first version:

And then Mark made it awesome by adding the ripped edging look to the photos and making them B&W. I love the journaling that Mark wrote! Aren’t we a great team?:)

Why I Love Being a Mom

12 11 2008

There are many reasons I love being a mom. Today Jonas came home with a note in his backpack from his teacher (she sometimes sends a note home with Jonas answering questions I might ask him, such as “What friends did you play with today?”, to help me and Jonas communicate better about what he does at school). At the end of the note she wrote “We passed the “Happy Stick” around today and Jonas said his mom makes him happy.” !! That just made my day and my eyes started to water because even though he sometimes tells me that he doesn’t love me or that he doesn’t always listen to me I know that deep down he does. So hearing that he says it to other people reassures me that he does love me and that I do make him happy:)
