The Jonas Funnies

30 03 2009

Ok so I think I’m going to start doing a weekly post of all the funny things Jonas says during the week!! I just wanted to share a quick little snippet of his funnies today. The kids watched a movie on the couch during naptime and Brynnan fell asleep, but Jonas didn’t. That’s fine because he’s usually ok if he doesn’t take a nap. I told him he could play a game when the movie was over so while he’s playing suddenly he says to me:

“After my naptime, ok, Mommy?”

I was like what?!! Lately he’ll just start talking as if we had been having a whole conversation. It’s really funny!

So I said to Jonas “What after your naptime?”

Jonas: “I’m going to play after my naptime.” And by “play” he means play games!

I said: “It’s already after naptime and you’re already playing a game.”

I don’t think he answered me back, probably too enthraweled in the game he was already playing after naptime!

…..

On a side note to that, Jonas has started calling me “Mom” a lot more lately. Is he really getting to the stage where he’ll stop calling me Mommy?!!! How sad!! But it is totally cute when he calls me Mom!:)

He’ll Be Really Surprised When He Sees “The Addams Family”

29 03 2009

Just so we get off on the right foot, know that this is Mark. Tonight, when putting the kids down to bed, Megan is reading to the boys out of a book my mother gave to them: Usborne Stories for Little Boys; particularly, “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” Almost all the way through the story, we get to this page:

Jonas gasps, points to the floating hands around the naked emperor and says, “Uh-oh! What happened to them?”

Yeah, I know: “Haha! Cute! Funny!”  Well, it only goes down hill from there; Megan, trying to finish a story to get the boys into bed, attempts to quickly answer him, and proceeds with this gem: “Oh, their arms were just cut off.”

This of course, gets a completely new set of gasping reactions, and proceeds to require a bit of a longer explanation to let Jonas know that no one cut off their hands (they had them in the next picture) and the artist just chose to stop drawing before the end of the page.

…And mother’s claim it’s boys that have violence on the brains. :)

Do you love me?

25 03 2009

I still can’t believe this!!! Ok here’s the story…. Jonas woke up from his nap and he was so good about taking it that I told him he could play a game. So he sat and played the Lego Indiana Jones Demo which is about 20 minutes long. He’s played it so much that he can get through the whole demo all by himself now! Well, after he finished it he’s sitting on the couch and says to me:

“Do you love me, Mommy?”

I looked at him and said “What was that?!”

Jonas, in the sweetest, most innocent voice EVER!!! repeated again: “Mommy, Do you love me?”

!!!!! Seriously!!!! He’s only 4 and he’s already trying to minipulate me into letting him play more???!!! I thought it was so funny and cute that of course I let him play another game. I would’ve let him even if he hadn’t said that, but it just made it a funny little Jonas moment. :)

I can’t believe the things he says lately. They sound so grown up and it makes me sad that he’s not my little baby anymore. But it is exciting to watch him grow.

The Grass is Greener…

On my lawn!! As Mark left for work he noticed the grass was greener today than it has been since the snow melted. It’s amazing what a little bit of rain can do!:) How exciting!

What The What??!!!

22 03 2009

This past week was full of gorgeous weather!! It was in the 50’s and 60’s mostly and really sunny! We went to the park to play Friday with Megann, Lainey, Libby, and Carter (a boy in the nursery with Lainey and Brynnan). Then we went to the big park by the zoo on Saturday as a family and had a good old time!! Yesterday was supposed to be cloudy and yucky, but luckily it was a beautiful day and got up to 62 degrees at one point! In March!!!:)

whatsthis

Well, not today!! It’s been yucky all morning! I haven’t seen the sun yet and now it’s SNOWING!!! Blah. I hope it stops soon!!

Silly Old Jonas Bear

21 03 2009

A few nights ago, our family went out to eat at Sol Rio, over by the Edward’s theater. Jonas had a pink lemonade to drink, and apparently it’s a restaurant that doesn’t have cups sized for kids. Jonas and Brynnan were both handed full sized drinks with a lid attached. Jonas quickly finished his off, surprisingly, before his enchilada arrived.

As a refill was brought, Jonas’ hands quickly became quite greasy from eating, and he found he couldn’t easily pick up his cup. Mark spent quite a bit of time lifting the large cup so that Jonas could take a drink every time he wanted one, but before Mark would lift it, Jonas would try every time to pick it up before getting frustraited.

Then, after getting half way through the liquid in the cup, suddenly Jonas could lift it! Completely surprised, he declairs loudly, with a large smile on his face: “Huh?! I’m stronger!!” We didn’t have the heart to explain it to him, and let him believe he was stronger.

And then, just a couple of nights ago, Mark made a nice backed Chicken for dinner, with some rice. Jonas, who loves rice, quite often forgets that he loves rice, and usually throws a fit about eating it. Mark didn’t want a fight that night, so he didn’t offer Jonas any. Once Mark pulled out the Soy Sauce, though, Jonas asked for rice all on his own. Jonas ate all of his chicken and rice, surprising Mark, who kept telling Jonas how proud he was. Apparently Mark was happy about it.

Brynnan, on the other hand, was throwing a fit. Needless to say, he spent a couple of hours either in time out, or at the table throwing a fit about not eating. Jonas kept telling Brynnan to eat his Chicken, letting Brynnan know that he did it, so Brynnan could, too.

Finally, nearly time to get ready for bed, Jonas, sitting with daddy, yells at him one more time. “Brynnan! Eat your chicken!” “Nooo!!!!” “I ate my chicken, Brynnan.” Then he turns to Mark, “Did you eat your chicken?” Mark nods yes. Jonas quickly gives Mark a big kiss on the lips and declairs: “I’m so proud of you!”

What a silly bear!

Oops!

17 03 2009

It was nice that the kids sleept in over the weekend. So nice that I made myself believe that it was a 3 day weekend! LOL For some reason I still had Jonas’ Febraury school breakfast calender up on the fridge and when I had Mark check it Sunday night he said there wasn’t school on Monday. I was excited because then we could sleep in and not worry about getting Jonas to school. About 9 Monday morning I realized, after calling his speech therapist, that it wasn’t Presidents Day or February for that matter! I felt really dumb!

Family Home Videos

15 03 2009

They’re so much fun, aren’t they? Well, I thought you might enjoy to see a few of the funny things our kids do… and Mark too:)

Jonas has been having pains in his legs for a while now. Usually in his right leg, which is the one having the surgery next month. His doctor wasn’t worried about it at first, but for about the last week or 2 Jonas has been complaining about pain in his leg throughout the day and not just at night. So I made an appt. with his doctor and on Friday I took him to get some X-rays done. When we came home this is what the kids had to reenact! I thought it was sooo funny! The hand motion they’re making at the bed level is them loading the film like the nurses did at the hospital! I thought that was so interesting that they mimicked even the little things! Oh, and they’re wearing aprons as the lead vests, if you didn’t already guess that. And Brynnan copied everything exactly how Jonas did it! I thought that was pretty funny too:)

Saturday morning the kids actually slept in until 7:30, so we were all in wonderful moods!! Mark and the kids played together for a while and I had to catch some of it on tape. (I guess it’s just too bad the camcorder records direct to flash media instead.) Sorry it’s so long, but I couldn’t stop laughing and had to catch it all:)

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

WHY?!

14 03 2009

Why is it that my 2 and a half year old and 4 year old always win? Why is it that he’s the one that has the control? Why do I always give in or usually give in to him? Why am I such a pushover?

I’m so frustrated with being a Mother today. Why? You might ask? Well, Mark was trying to do some work this morning and the kids were being loud as normal and making it hard for him tonconcentrate. So, being the loving wife that I am I thought I’d give him some time alone and venture out on a shopping trip with the afore mentioned winners and controllers of everything. I needed to go out anyway and it would be fun to spend some time with the kids, at least that’s what I was making myself think. Deep down I new it would be a trip from H-E-double-hockey-sticks!

Well, we got gas first and that wasn’t bad. There were girl scouts outside Sam’s selling cookies, which I was REALLY excited about, but then I realized I didn’t have any checks left:P We sat down to eat lunch once we got inside Sam’s Club, which took AT LEAST half an hour!! ARGH! Then the kids had to get in one of those big carts with the kiddy car in the front, which made it hard to steer. It was of course Saturday and lunchtime so they had the taste tester people out and the kids wanted seconds of everything, especially the chicken and cookies! So by the time we left Sam’s it was about 12:15, an hour and 15 minutes later! I was happy though, because I was able to get cash back from my purchase and buy 2 boxes of Thin Mint girls scout cookies!!:) YEA!

Then we had to run to Albertsons to get some milk, which of course took about half an hour because I had to go through the whole store to make sure I wasn’t missing any good deals, which I used to think never happened at Alberstons, but every once in a while there will be a few good ones there. Like today I got apples and grapes, both .99  lb:) When we got to the check out Brynnan of course wanted to take his coat off. Albertson’s has the cart go on the other side of where you pay so I couldn’t stop him. And of course he threw it on the floor in front of the cart. The cashier didn’t even pick it up and it was right next to her! That was annoying! So I had to walk all the way around, pick up the coat and stick it in the cart. Then I had to go back around to pay. Of course a second later Jonas wanted his coat off, but luckily he listens to me, sometimes anyway. I had to wrestle with Brynnan to get his coat back on him and then wrestle to get him in his car seat once we got outside.

Really! Why do kids act like this? I know they want to be in charge and do their own thing, but can’t they tell that it doesn’t make my life very fun and easy?

Ok, I think I’m done with my little rant now. I’m so tired! I think that could be another reason why the shoppin trip was so horrible and took 2 hours to go to 2 stores! I’m off to take a nap then! Hope you’re all having a good Saturday!!

What’s That Noise, Mommy?

9 03 2009

dishwasher

I usually run the dishwasher at night so it doesn’t bother us during the day. Well, I forgot to run it last night and it was really full so I started to run it while the kids were eating lunch. The kids were talking and eating and then suddenly Jonas asked: “What’s the noise, Mommy?”

At first I didn’t know what he meant, but then I realized he probably meant the dishwasher. I replied, “Oh, that’s the dishwasher.”

Jonas then said, “Oh, Can you turn it off?”

Me: “I can’t turn it off because the dishes are all dirty and need to be washed.”

Jonas: “I don’t like to hear it.”

Me: “Well, if you hurry and finish your lunch you can go take a nap in your room and you won’t be able to hear it.”

Jonas: “I won’t hear it in my room?”

Me: “Nope.”

Jonas: “Ok.”

LOL I thought it was a funny little conversation. Don’t we get a kick out of the wierdest things when we’re moms?:)
