The Brynnan Funnies

30 08 2009

Brynnan does funny things all the time, but for some reason I haven’t been doing a Brynnan Funnies series. Well, today I’ll change that!:)

Brynnan has been sick since yesterday so he’s been acting really mellow. He napped until about 5:30 so when we finally got around to eating dinner we decided just to go easy with Cereal. YEA!!

Anyway, we poured the kids their bowls of cereal and Jonas said the prayer. During the prayer Brynnan was being irreverent and playing with his cereal. When Jonas was all done saying the prayer he said to Brynnan, “You can’t eat during prayer, Brynnan!”  Jonas starts eating his cereal and Brynnan decides to say a prayer right then. When he finished he says, “Jonas, you can’t eat during prayer!”

***

Another funny Brynnan moment as we were sitting at dinner:

Mark started saying saying Knock-Knock jokes with the boys. I was trying to help Brynnan understand what to say, but he wasn’t getting it. At one point Brynnan said, “Knock-Knock.”

Mark said, “Who’s there?”

Brynnan replied, “Come in!”

I owe Mark an Apology

29 08 2009

So, remember that post about how horrible the house looked when we got home? Well, I took a vacation from my vacation, as my friend Karlenn would say, and the house looked worse 2 days later!! Can you believe it?

This photo was taken after breakfast on Sunday August 9th. After I took this picture I got to work cleaning!!

Appointments, Appointments, Appointments!

29 08 2009

appointments

Brynnan, stretching with grandma after her morning bike ride.

Wednesday August 5th was pretty mellow. Jonas only had one appointment in Boise that day, but it was a bladder test so they had to catherterize him. Yuck!! He does ok with it because he has limited feeling in that area, but he can feel it somewhat! Poor kid! The appointment was at 11:00 and it took them a LONG time to get him set up so by the time we got out of there it was at least 12:30 or so. We ate lunch at Taco Bell because Jonas was so good the whole time! He loved that!!

Thursday was the big day for appointments!! We started out at 11:00 again. He had a CT scan and then we ate lunch. After lunch he had another bladder test they had to cath him for, UGH!! He was really good, yet again and this test didn’t take so long, but it came along with some bad news:P Which I didn’t find out until hours and hours later!!

After the bladder test we headed down to his Spina Bifida Clinic where we waited for about an hour before we ever saw a doctor!! UGH, yet again!! LOL Jonas was totally bored and ready to go by then. I believe it was at least 3:30! We saw about 5 different doctors and therapists. They each straggled in over the next hour and a half. They were all really nice and very interested in Jonas and his case! We saw the urologist that we saw on Wednesday at his first bladder test. She is really nice and I love her already!! She had some bad news for us…. Jonas’ bladder is elongated, which means it looks like an oval, not a circle like it’s supposed to. She said there’s two options: They can go in and do surgery to manipulate it back into shape and then we’d have to cath him every day or we could just start cathing him every day, 3-4 times! UGH!!! Either way, we lose! Of course I didn’t want him to go through surgery yet again so soon after his other one. Dr. Fairfax didn’t want to do that either because she said it’s really invasive and would like to skip that all together if we can. Knowing our record, he’ll probably need the surgery anyway, but if not, that’s great!!

She was the last doctor we saw and by the time we got out of the hospital and to the car I think it was about 5:30!! Yikes!! Since he was so good and he was starving I bought him dinner at Burger King. We ate and then headed on our way home. I had made an appoinment for the next morning at Dr. Fairfax’s office in Meridian, which is right next to Boise.

Jonas and I left at 7:15 on Friday morning for the appointment and got there 30 minutes early! That was ok though because Jonas was watching a movie in the car so I just let him finish it.

The appointment went pretty well. Once we got back to the room Dr. Fairfax came in and talked with me about Catheterizing Jonas and how to do it properly. She then showed me how to do it and drained out some of his pee. Then it was my turn. I was really nervous and not sure if I could do it, but I quickly realized that it wasn’t very complicated! You stick it in and he pees. Ok, I guess I shouldn’t sound so insensitive right? I was really worried that it was going to be hard and horrible. When it wasn’t I was surprised. I’m sure it helps that it doesn’t hurt him as much as another kid, but he’s still uneasy about it.

She gave us a few extra catheters and we made our way back to Mtn. Home. We ate lunch and I packed up the car. We left at about noon and the kids slept most of the way home, which was VERY nice!! We got home at about 3:30. Mark was waiting for us. The boys were so happy to see him and be home finally!! Two weeks is a long time to be away from home at their age!!!

The first thing Brynnan did was run in his room and do a little dance! LOL

Mark unpacked the car:)

Brynnan helped bring in “his” suitcase! He loved to help carry this suitcase our whole vacation!

After unpacking the car the first thing they did with Daddy was play video games, of course!! And after dinner they went outside to play with their water guns.

I feel safe with Jonas and Brynnan around!:) They’ll protect me from the bad guys!

Talking with the kids across the street.

home8

Aiming at the bad guys, which I think is either Jonas or the kids across the street! LOL

home9

A calm moment for the wild one.

home10

Oh, no! Jonas shot Brynnan! I love that he’s in mid fall!:)

home11

And another mid fall, or maybe this is him becoming undead! (Haha! I just crack myself up!)

We were all so happy to be back home together and spend time as a family we let the kids stay up until 8:30 or so, which is totally unheard of in our house!! They have a strict 8pm bedtime!! The boys had fun playing with daddy.

This probably doesn’t sound very good, but they’re saying “Pluck it!” Not anything else!! LOL That’s what Mark started calling the little balls they’re throwing around. We missed our family we just visited,  but it was good to be home!

EDIT: Mark just informed me that pluckit is one word and it’s an onomatopoeia for the sound that Mario makes in Mario 1 when he shoots a fireball. :P

Food From the Garden

29 08 2009

No, we don’t have a garden, unfortunately. I wish I was talking about my own garden! We actually have/had one here at our new house, but I was so busy after we moved in that by the time I got around to thinking about doing any gardening it was too late. :P Next year!!

Anyway, on that Tuesday after eating lunch at Burger King, I drove us back to Mark’s parents house. Brynnan fell asleep in the car and when we got home I just put him up in his little bed on the floor. Jonas went out to help Grandma pick fruits and veggies from their garden. I love the way they have their garden set up! There are 4 or 5 different beds with stones placed around them in an oval shape. I love this idea, because I hate dirt and being in it and around bugs and spiders, etc. So if I have a place to sit, like on the stone, that I don’t have to sit on the ground, that’s great! :)

I know this picture is practically the same as the one above. I just love how Jonas is crouched and holding his knee! So cute!

Searching for ripe cucumbers.

Helping grandma pull it off.

And now searching for squash, I think!

Jonas was a great helper! It makes me excited to have a garden next year because he’ll hopefully want to help with it!!:)

LAX with Mramawse

28 08 2009

I woke up at 4:45 On Tuesday August 4th and got myself ready, ate breakfast and made sure everything was packed up. I woke the kids up at 5:00 and we were out of the house a little bit after 6:00, I think! Both Grandma and Grandpa woke up so we could say good-bye to them, but Ethan was still snoring. I was sad to be leaving, but the boys missed being home so it was good to be going back, at least half way (we were flying into Boise)!

We got to LAX at about 7:30. It was crazy how busy it was that early!! Mom was able to get an escort pass to come with the us to the terminal. We had to wait in a huge long line to get through the x-ray machines. Jonas had to be wanded because of his braces and then I had a problem with one of my carry on bags because I forgot I had a FULL Huge bottle of sunscreen in there! ARGH! I had just bought it before leaving on the whole trip and it cost $9!! And I had to throw it away because otherwise they wouldn’t let me pass with it!! UGH! Stupid terrorists! Why do you have to make my life so much harder??!! :P

Anyway, so we got past the security check finally and we had about an hour to wait. The plane was a bit late too, so that was annoying:P The boys had fun watching the planes come and go yet again.

This picture is funny. It looks like Brynnan is pouting and my mom is trying to look happy for the picture, but I can tell she’s stressed out because of my wild kiddos!!:)

The Final Installment of Our CA Vacation

28 08 2009

Day 7

Monday morning I went on a walk with grandpa again. This time it wasn’t easy, at all!! Especially, since I wasn’t just sore from our walk on Saturday! I was also bruised! But I did enjoy the time spent with grandpa!

Monday was a busy day. I was washing clothes and getting us ready to leave the next day. We had finished the scrapbook for G&G Sunday night so we were cleaning up all the scrapbooking stuff too. At one point Brynnan was being incredibly quiet. I found him in the kitchen playing with the hamper. It was empty and there were clothes all over the kitchen floor!!! Of course!

I thought these videos were pretty cute and funny:)

Another Installment of our CA Vacation

28 08 2009

Day 4

I can’t believe I forgot one of the best parts of day 4!!! Grandma made her homemade bread and saved some of the dough to make scones for dinner! They were amazing!! I had at least 7 of them! I think I actually counted myself eating 10. *GASP*!!! I know, I’m such a pig, but who knows when I’ll eat grandma’s amazing scones again! I had to get my fill! The bread was really good too!

Day 5

I’ve finally made it to day 5 of our CA vacation!! UGH so much more to go!!….

Saturday morning I went for a walk with my grandpa. I had a lot of fun!! I have always LOVED going on walks with grandpa. When they lived in Monterey, CA we would go on walks through the woods and then down to the ocean. On the way back we would go a different way and there was a tree stump that we would each take turns standing on and singing. We called it the singing stump. I totally forgot about that stump until I went on this trip!!

day51

When Grandpa and I got back from our walk this is how I found my mom and Brynnan. He loved spending time with Mramaw Gibson!!:)

First Day of School, First Day of School

26 08 2009

Were you singing the tune that Nemo sings? That’s what I’ve been thinking about all morning. LOL And a long morning it’s been.

Today was Jonas’ first day back to Preschool. We live far from the school so he is one of the first kids that gets picked up for the bus ride! The driver called me last week and said she’d pick him up about 7:15! Yikes, right?

So my alarm went off at 6am. I got up and went to get Jonas, who, surprised me by springing out of bed when I walked in his door! That was a nice change from many mornings last year!!

He ate breakfast, Frosted Flakes, of course! When he was done we went downstairs to watch Dora and get dressed and all that fun potty stuff. It was actually a great morning! Jonas was excited about going back to school and meeting his new teacher. We all went to an open house yesterday and met his teachers, Mrs. Jenny Jenkins and Mrs. Terry(not sure what her last name is). He played with the toys in the classroom and found his cubby and locker for his backpack. Brynnan had fun playing too, but Mark was completely BORED!! LOL I was glad he came though:)

Anyway, so he got all ready and we waited together for the bus.

Brynnan was very upset that he didn’t get to ride the bus with Jonas or go to school like Jonas! Poor kid!!

school10

Crying as the bus drives away.

school11

Here he is with one shoe on and one shoe off. He tried to get his shoes on to go out with us, but didn’t make it in time and then started throwing a crying and screaming tantrum. I felt really bad for him!

school12

But he soon got over it!:)

Here’s the bus coming down our street.

And a quick snap shot of Jonas before he got off the bus. Of course he wasn’t looking at me, but he still looks so cute and like such a big boy!

school16

Brynnan was so excited to see Jonas!!

Jonas was excited to tell me about his day at school. He had a lot of fun playing with the toys, he said. They sang an ABC song too. Yay! :) We’re in a new school district now since we moved and I like the way the teachers run their classes. They have a daily calender sent home every week so the parents know what the kids are learning on each day. I also can go in and help out whenever I want. They have a sign up sheet for each month. His old class had 3 teachers so they never really needed any helpers. So I’m excited to be able to help out this year. I signed up for the 23rd this month and will see if I can do more next month:)

The Wild Animal Park

25 08 2009

Day 3 . . . Continued

I took a little hiatus because we had some friends that we haven’t seen in 2 and a half years visit us the past couple days. It was SO GREAT to see them and I’ll be blogging about it in about a month probably. LOL

SO I left off with the 3rd day. After the beach we went home. Brynnan fell asleep in the car and so I laid him down for a nap when we got back. Jonas, of course, didn’t want to take a nap so I didn’t make him. I hung out with my mom and grandparents and Jonas.

Grandma had bought a bunch  of rhubarb because I asked her to make rhubarb crisp, which she did and it was AMAZING!!! I LOVE it!! I haven’t had hers in over 6 years!! My grandma is the best cook ever!:) SHe makes really good bread and scones, too!! YUM!!

Anyway, Grandma was making jam when we got home. It’s really good. She gave me some  to bring home and I LOVE it!!:) MMMmmm!!

day31

Here’s the yummy jam going into the bottles.

day32

And here’s Jonas in his bad mood:P After Brynnan woke up Jonas was being mean to Brynnan so Jonas was sent up to our room to take a nap and he cried for at least 30 minutes, but then took a nap!:) Woohoo!!

We hung out at home for the rest of the day. It was so nice to have such a laid back schedule!! My mom and I scrapbooked and I think Mom made dinner that night. Sloppy Joes, yum!!

Jonas Funnies

22 08 2009

This morning the boys and I were eating cereal at the table while Mark was making oatmeal. There was a noise outside and Brynnan said, “What’s that?” Before Mark or I could answer Jonas replied, “That’s your butt and around the corner!!” I couldn’t believe my ears! It was pretty funny so I couldn’t help, but laugh.

Where would he have picked that up from?? Well, that would be his Father! A few years ago Mark asked me a question about where something was and being funny I said, “Up your butt and around the corner.” I remember kids saying it when I was in high school and thought it would be funny to say something so weird. He thought it was SO funny that he has continued to say it ever since that day and will NOT stop! So that is where Jonas picked up such a vulgar, weird, annoying phrase. I’m sure I’ll hear it more from him now. So who do I punish, myself, Mark or Jonas???!! LOL

edit (by Mark): I didn’t find it “SO funny”; I found it funny to annoy Megan with, because it was SO retarded of a phrase.
